Essex Marine Ltd has commenced integrated cold chain logistics operations under its cold storage brand DE SENS COLDSTORE, marking a strategic shift from a rental-based cold storage model to a comprehensive end-to-end cold chain solutions platform.

Previously, the company operated its cold storage facility primarily on a rental basis for frozen product companies, while transportation and distribution were handled through third-party logistics providers. With the new initiative, Essex Marine is integrating logistics services with its storage infrastructure to offer a complete cold chain solution for temperature-sensitive products.

As part of the initial phase of the rollout, the company plans to lease four refrigerated vehicles and purchase one 12-ton refrigerated truck to support transportation and distribution operations. The move is expected to strengthen the company’s ability to provide controlled temperature logistics services for frozen and perishable goods.

In addition to fleet expansion, Essex Marine is also planning to extend its cold chain logistics operations into the North-Eastern region of India. The expansion will begin with operations in Siliguri, followed by Guwahati, aimed at strengthening the company’s regional distribution network and improving access to emerging markets in the region.

Industry observers note that the transition to an integrated cold chain model could enable Essex Marine to offer improved efficiency, better temperature control during transit, and streamlined logistics support for clients dealing with frozen and perishable products.

The initiative reflects the growing demand for reliable cold chain infrastructure in India, driven by the expansion of the frozen food sector, pharmaceuticals, and temperature-sensitive agricultural exports.
